CONCEPT

Atractive
Advanced
Affordable

AVRT (Advanced Very Rapid Transit) was a project rooted in future mobility, not just imagining what public transport could look like, but designing something that felt genuinely achievable and more importantly, required

We were tasked with creating an autonomous, tram-like vehicle for dedicated routes, initially focused on Milton Keynes, but designed with wider rollout in mind. Working alongside infrastructure partner Arup Group, the ambition was to develop a clean, efficient transport system for mid-sized cities, offering the predictability of rail, with the flexibility of road.

PROCESS

Design centered around the user

The vehicle needed to carry around 50 passengers, but more than just meeting a number, we wanted to create a space that felt open, accessible, and calming.

The exterior design took strong inspiration from modern trains, not just in form, but in character. We wanted the vehicle to carry a sense of durability and reliability, with clean, continuous lines and a confident, but friendly presence on the road. That influence helped reinforce the system’s identity as something closer to light rail than a conventional bus.
